Consulting Herbalist

American Herbalist Guild

Enrollment in the Herbal Studies Certificate programs includes a one-year complimentary membership in the American Herbalists Guild (AHG), the organization at the forefront in developing standards and guidelines for the practice of herbalism in the United States.

Consulting Herbalist Certificate — Level 2

The Consulting Herbalist Certificate program serves as the second step for those who are on their way to becoming master herbalists. In addition, it can provide important education for those who work in settings such as health food stores and herb shops. Topics covered in this program include formulating herbal combinations; making tinctures, teas, salves, and other herbal applications; and understanding herbal contraindications and interactions.

Requirement for admission: successful completion of the Family Herbalist program.

Family Herbalist Certificate (Level 1)
  CHC 210 History of Herbalism
  CHC 220 Pharmacognosy and Plant Chemistry
  CHC 230 Therapeutic Herbology
  CHC 240 Intermediate Herbology I
  CHC 250 Biology
  CHC 260 Intermediate Herbology II
  CHC 270 Anatomy and Physiology
  CHC 280 Toxicology and Pharmacology

After successfully completing Herbal Studies Level 2, students may proceed to the Master Herbalist Certificate, Level 3.
