The Doctor of Philosophy in Holistic Nutrition program begins with an examination of nutritional healing as found in traditional Chinese and in Ayurvedic medicines. Other topics in this program include dietary fats and oils, the nutrition of traditional societies, and how nutrition affects the mind, the musculoskeletal system, immune function, and the quality of life into aging. This program includes three elective courses as well as specific courses designed to aid students in the dissertation process, which completes this degree program.
Many Clayton College of Natural Health graduates practice as holistic nutrition consultants. Although not required for the all Doctor of Philosophy program, students may include some of the practitioner-focused courses and the practicum among their electives and/or add these courses to their programs.
Enrollment in the CCNH Doctor of Philosophy in Holistic Nutrition program includes a complimentary one-year membership in the National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP), a non-profit organization that strives to maintain the integrity of the holistic nutrition profession through educational standards, a rigorous code of ethics, and registration of nutrition professionals. Graduates of this Ph.D. program are eligible to apply for registration.
Requirement for admission: A master’s degree and completion of any necessary prerequisite courses.
Ph.D. candidates who intend to practice as health consultants or nutritional consultants are encouraged to include practice courses among their electives. For more information contact your admissions or faculty advisor.
