Presenters
Wendy
Arthur, MD, FAAFP, has practiced family medicine with
a holistic approach for more than 20 years. As Director of Complementary
and Holistic Healthcare at CCNH, she develops degree program curricula
for healthcare professionals. Wendy also travels and teaches about
natural health to both the public and the medical community across
the U.S.
Rudolph
Ballentine, MD, an original pioneer of integrative medicine
and member of the CCNH Advisory Board, has been in practice for more
than 25 years. He advocates a common sense, down to earth approach
to health that includes the spiritual foundations that underlie holistic
therapies. Rudolph is the author of Diet and Nutrition, Transition
to Vegetarianism, and Theory and Practice of Meditation.
Jonny
Bowden, MA, CN, CNS, is a nationally known expert on
weight loss, nutrition and low carb dieting, and the author of the
best selling Living the Low Carb Life: Choosing the Diet That’s
Right for You from Atkins to Zone. He is regularly featured
on e-Diets.com, and he has appeared as a nutrition expert on Fox
News, CNN, MSNBC, and all three major networks. Jonny is currently
a CCNH student.
Donna
Carey, PhD, LAc, is a licensed acupuncturist, herbalist,
sound healer, educator, and poet. She was Clinical Dean of the Northwest
Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NIAOM), where she
created and administrated interdisciplinary community clinics serving
the health care needs of diverse populations. Donna currently resides
in northern New Mexico teaching courses in acutonics.
Ellen
Franklin, PhD, brings extensive experience to the intersection
of business, alternative health care, education, and technology.
With more than 25 years experience in senior leadership, Ellen has
directed efforts in organizational change, adult learning, community
service, and publishing. Ellen is a frequent speaker at conferences,
traveling throughout the world to promote and teach Acutonics, a
sound healing system. She resides in northern New Mexico.
Ann
Louise Gittleman, PhD is continually breaking new ground
in all aspects of health—from natural hormone replacement to
effective and safe weight loss. She is the award winning author of
20 books on health and healing with more than 3.5 million copies
in print. Her latest NY Times and USA Today bestsellers are Before
the Change and The Fat Flush Plan. Ann Louise is CCNH’s
Adjunct Professor for Holistic Nutrition.
Rosemary Gladstar, Herbalist, has
been practicing, living, learning, teaching, and writing about herbs
for more than 30 years. She is the author of nine books, including the
popular Herbal Healing for Women and The Family Herbal.
Rosemary is the founder of United
Plant Savers, a non-profit grass roots organization dedicated to
the conservation and cultivation of at-risk medicinal plants.
Jeff
Goin is the president of the Coalition
for Natural Health. He is a student and teacher at Vajrarupini
Buddhist Center in San Diego, CA. Jeff is appreciated by students
for both his sense of humor and his clear and practical presentation
of spiritual teachings.
Elson
Haas, MD, a CCNH Advisory Board member, has been in
medical practice for more than 25 years and was instrumental in the
development of integrative medicine. He is founder and director of
the Preventive Medical Center of Marin, an integrated health care
facility in San Rafael, CA. Elson is the author of several books
including Staying Healthy with the Seasons, Staying
Healthy with Nutrition, and Vitamins for Dummies.
Susie
Hale, ND, PhD, is a graduate of CCNH and is Director
of Practitioner Education for the college. She is the author of “The
Clayton College Model of Empowerment for Natural Health Practice.” Integrating
the principles of traditional naturopathy with bodywork and counseling,
Susie works and teaches from the perspective that the mind/body/spirit
connection is required for true healing.
Steven
Horne, AHG, is a professional herbalist and wellness
consultant. He is an internationally recognized author, teacher,
and consultant in the fields of herbalism, iridology, muscle response
testing, flower essences, and emotional healing. His teaching has
helped hundreds of people develop successful careers in the field
of natural and holistic health care. Steven maintains a practice
in St. George, Utah.
Ellen
Tart Jensen, PhD, a CCNH adjunct faculty member, has
been involved with natural healing and nutrition since 1979 and studying
Iridology since 1983. She spent four years working alongside Dr.
Bernard Jensen, considered by many to be the father of Iridology
in the U.S. Ellen spent two years in Switzerland, where she studied
natural healing methods at a health clinic.
Denise
Lamothe, PsyD, HHD, is the author of the popular book, The
Taming of the Chew: A Holistic Guide to Stopping Compulsive Eating.
She has appeared in many publications, on television and radio, and
teaches widely across the United States and Canada. Denise is a CCNH
graduate.
Phyllis
D. Light, RH, Herbalist, the Director of Herbal Studies
at CCNH, has more than 25 years experience as an herbalist, healer,
and educator. Phyllis travels the U.S. teaching and lecturing for
both healthcare professionals and the general public. Her articles
have appeared in national natural health magazines, newspapers, and
journals, and she is the author of the upcoming book, The Practices
and Principles of Appalachian Medicine.
Stewart
Mitchell, BPhil a Certified Health Educator and CCNH International
Adjunct Professor, is a graduate of the University of Exeter
in the United Kingdom. He is the founder of the School
of Complementary Health, a registered and licensed school
in the U.K. Stewart is the author of Health
Essentials: Naturopathy, The
Complete Illustrated Guide to Massage, and Health
Essentials: Massage.
Christine
Page, MD, has more than 30 years experience in
the caring professions both as a medical doctor and homeopath.
She is committed to finding ways to enhance a state of well-being
through tapping into our own inner truths, working from love,
and working in cooperation with the natural elements of the
world. Christine is the author of five books, including Spiritual
Alchemy and Frontiers of Health.
Linda
Page, PhD, has been a leader in the natural health industry
for more than 30 years. She is the author of Healthy Healing:
A Guide to Self-Healing for Everyone, Cooking for Healthy
Eating, and How to be Your Own Herbal Pharmacist. Linda
is a graduate of CCNH and is currently adjunct faculty.
Darryl
Patton, ND, Herbalist, has been involved with plants
for more than 20 years. He is the author of Tommie Bass: Herb
Doctor of Shinbone Ridge, America’s Goat Man,
and Mountain Medicine: The Herbal Remedies of Tommie Bass.
Darryl is Adjunct Professor of Herbal Studies at CCNH and maintains
a practice in Gadsden, AL. He also teaches survival courses around
the world.
Jane Patton, AFAA, has worked
as a certi- fied fitness instructor for more than 16 years. She is certified
in Pilates mat work as well as yoga. Jane is also a personal trainer,
and teaches Pilates and yoga classes in her local community.
Lesley Tierra, AHG, LAc, is
a California licensed and nationally certified acupuncturist. She has
been practicing for more than 20 years and combines healing with food,
herbs, and acupuncture in her work. She is the director of the East-West
Clinic in Santa Cruz, CA. Lesley is the author of several books, including Herbs
of Life and A Kid’s Herb Book.
Michael
Tierra, OMD, LAc, is the author of numerous books on
health and healing, including The Way of Herbs, Planetary
Herbology, and The Way of Chinese Herbs. Michael is
a founding member of the American Herbalist Guild and teaches widely
across the U.S. He maintains a clinic in Santa Cruz, CA.
David
Winston, AHG, is an herbalist and ethnobotanist with
more than 35 years of training in Cherokee, Chinese, and Western
herbal traditions. He is an herbal consultant to many physicians
and other healthcare professionals throughout the U.S. and Canada.
David is the author of Herbal Therapy and Supplementsand Herbal
Therapeutics: Specific Indications.
Matthew Wood, AHG, is an
herbalist, homeopath, and adjunct faculty at CCNH. He is an internationally
renowned author and teacher with more than 20 years of experience. His
books include Seven Herbs: Plants as Teachers, The Book
of Herbal Wisdom, and The Practice of Traditional Western Herbalism.
