Presenters

Wendy Arthur, M.D., FAAFP, has practiced family medicine with a holistic approach for more than 20 years. As director of complementary and holistic healthcare at CCNH, she develops certification and degree program curricula for healthcare professionals. Arthur also travels and teaches about natural health to both the public and the medical community across the United States.
Jonny Bowden Jonny Bowden, Ph.D., C.N.S., is a nationally known expert on weight loss, nutrition, and low carb dieting and the author of the best selling Living The Low Carb Life: Choosing the Diet That’s Right for You from Atkins to Zone. He is regularly featured on e-Diets.com, and has appeared as a nutrition expert on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC and all three major networks. Bowden is a graduate of CCNH’s Ph.D. in holistic nutrition program.
Jana Broder Jana Broder, founder of Drum Magic, is an enthusiastic drum circle facilitator whose passion is to create fun, engaging, and powerfully transformative community drumming events where anyone, regardless of experience, physical abilities, age, or talent can participate. Broder, an active member of the Tampa, Florida community, is currently teaching classes and facilitating drum circles with a variety of groups and agencies, such as the Arts Council of Hillsborough County, the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Department of Aging Services, the Tampa Metro YMCA, the City of Tampa, and many other private and social organizations.
Donna Carey Donna Carey, PhD, LAc, is a licensed acupuncturist, herbalist, sound healer, educator, and poet, trained in western and eastern medicine and the arts. Carey is co-founder of the International Institute of Harmonic Living, a new not-for-profit organization with a focus on science, sustainability, and spirituality. She is also co-founder of the Kairos Institute of Sound Healing, creator of the Acutonics® Healing System. She was Clinical Dean of the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NIAOM), where she created and administrated interdisciplinary community clinics serving the health care needs of diverse populations. Carey is co-author of Acutonics®: There’s No Place Like Ohm, Sound Healing, Oriental Medicine and the Cosmic Mysteries, and Acutonics® From Galaxies to Cells, Planetary Science, Harmony, and Medicine will be published in 2008.
Sally Fallon Sally Fallon, is founding president of the Weston A. Price Foundation and editor of the Foundation’s quarterly magazine, as well as the founder of A Campaign for Real Milk. She is also president and owner of NewTrends Publishing, serving as editor and publisher of The Cholesterol Myths by Uffe Ravnskov, MD, Ph.D.; The Untold Story of Milk by Ron Schmid, N.D.; and, The Yoga of Eating by 2007 conference presenter Charles Eisenstein. Fallon is also the author of the cookbook, Nourishing Traditions.
Ellen Franklin Ellen Franklin, Ph.D., is co-founder of the International Institute of Harmonic Living, CEO of the Kairos Institute of Sound Healing, and President of Devachan Press. For the past six years, Franklin has worked closely with Donna Carey to co-develop new curriculum and refine the Acutonics® Certification Program. Ellen is co-author of AcutonicsĀ® From Galaxies to Cells, Planetary Science, Harmony, and Medicine which will be published in 2008. An avid horsewoman, Franklin also oversaw the launch of the Equine Acutonics program and is collaborating with Kelly Haggerty on a new book, Equine Acutonics®: Balancing Horse & Rider, which will be published in 2008.
Gloria Gilbere Gloria Gilbère a CCNH doctor of naturopathy and Ph.D. in natural health graduate, is a homeopath, eco-ergonomist, environmental health consultant, and internationally renowned for her wholistic skin and body rejuvenation (WSBR™) programs. She is the author of best-sellers I Was Poisoned By My Body and Pain/Inflammation Matters. She was recently appointed to the position of ambassador of environmental and natural health by Save the Earth International, an NGO of the United Nations. Gilbère is internationally respected as an authoritative influence in identifying the causes, effects, and drug-free solutions for leaky gut syndrome, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and chemically-induced immune system disorders, and she assisted thousands with invisible illnesses to recovery through wholistic rejuvenation principles worldwide.
Jeff Goin is the president of the Coalition for Natural Health. He is both a student and teacher at Vajrarupini Buddhist Center in San Diego, CA. Goin is appreciated by students for both his sense of humor and his clear, practical presentation of spiritual teachings.
Elson Haas, M.D., is a practicing physician of integrated medicine, and medical director of the Preventive Medical Center of Marin in San Rafael. He is also the author of the classic preventive medicine text Staying Healthy With the Seasons, Staying Healthy With Nutrition, A Cookbook For All Seasons, The New Detox Diet: Complete Guide for Lifelong Vitality with Recipes & Menu Plans, and The Staying Healthy Shopper’s Guide, for safe shopping and eating healthy.
Susie Hale, N.D., Ph.D., is a graduate of CCNH and is director of practitioner education for the college. She is the author of The Clayton College Model of Empowerment for Natural Health Practice. Integrating the principles of traditional naturopathy with bodywork and counseling, Susie works and teaches from the perspective that the mind/body/spirit connection is required for true healing.
Cory Holly Cory Holly, N.D., is a CCNH graduate. He competes as a Masters athlete in track and field (hammer thrower) and is currently training for the 2008 INBA Natural Mr. Olympia. As Canada’s Ambassador of Sports Nutrition, Health and Fitness, and recipient of the 2003 CHFA Sports Nutrition Hall of Fame Award, Holly’s objective is to strengthen sports nutrition awareness world wide and bridge the enormous gap that exists between nutrition and fitness. Holly has made many TV and radio appearances and has lectured at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Simon Fraser University (SFU) and hundreds of health shows, fitness symposiums and trade conventions throughout North America. He is also the director of education for INBA Canada and a member of the board of advisors for VISTA magazine.
Phyllis Light Phyllis D. Light, RH, Herbalist, and director of herbal studies at CCNH, has more than 25 years experience as an herbalist, healer, and educator. Light travels the United States teaching and lecturing for both healthcare professionals and the general public. Her articles have appeared in national natural health magazines, newspapers, and journals. Light is considered an expert in Southern and Appalachian folk medicine healing techniques. She maintains a clinical practice in North Alabama and is the supervising herbalist at the Common Ground Free Clinic in New Orleans. Light is a professional member of the American Herbalist Guild and a certified healthcare instructor.
Edwin Marty is the co-founder and head of Jones Valley Urban Farm, a non-profit organization dedicated to reclaiming vacant urban lots and converting them to productive use. In addition to growing organic fruits, vegetables, and cut flowers, the urban farm is an important community resource that provides educational and economic opportunities in an urban setting.
Jacque Miller, owner of Career Dimensions of Arizona, is a human behavior specialist who passionately supports local and national issues regarding small business, education, and women. Known for her dynamic, energetic, humorous and down-to-earth style, Miller specializes in customizing behavioral-based programs by combining professional know-how with personal attitude development.
Stewart Mitchell, B.Phil., a certified health educator and CCNH international adjunct professor, is a graduate of the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. He is the founder of the School of Complementary Health, a registered and licensed school in the United Kingdom. Mitchell is the author of Health Essentials: Naturopathy, The Complete Illustrated Guide to Massage, and Health Essentials: Massage.
Linda Page, Ph.D., has been a leader in the natural health industry for more than 30 years. She is the author of Healthy Healing: A Guide to Self-Healing for Everyone, Cooking for Healthy Eating, and How to be Your Own Herbal Pharmacist. Linda is a graduate of CCNH and is currently adjunct faculty.
Darryl Patton, N.D., Herbalist, has been involved with plants for more than 20 years. He is the author of Tommie Bass: Herb Doctor of Shinbone Ridge, America’s Goat Man, and Mountain Medicine: The Herbal Remedies of Tommie Bass. Patton is adjunct professor of herbal studies at CCNH and maintains a practice in Gadsden, Alabama. He also teaches survival courses around the world.
Jane Patton, AFAA, has worked as a certified fitness instructor for more than 16 years. She is certified in Pilates mat work as well as yoga. Jane is also a personal trainer and currently instructs classes at Gold’s Gym in Gadsden, Alabama. She teaches pilates and yoga classes for the community through the First United Methodist Church in Gadsden.
Bernard Rosen, MBA, Ph.D., is a CCNH Ph.D. in holistic nutrition graduate. He is a Certified Yoga Instructor, achieving the highest level of certification with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 500. In 2006 he founded Rosen Wellness, LLC to provide nutrition education and consultation for individuals, groups and businesses. Prior to this Rosen was a marketing and strategic planning executive for over 20 years.
Cherie Sohnen-Moe, has been a speaker, author and consultant for more than 25 years. She holds a degree in psychology from UCLA and has extensive experience in the areas of business management, creative problem solving and the healing arts. Cherie has written more than 100 articles and has been published in more than 15 national and international magazines. She is the author of Business Mastery and the co-author of The Ethics of Touch.
Caroline Walrad Caroline Walrad, Ph.D., CN, earned her Ph.D. in classical homeopathic philosophy at Curentur University in California and is a certified nutritionist. Walrad acquired a B.S. in biology and public health and is a certified biofeedback specialist with the EPFX/SCIO energetic biofeedback program. Combining her expertise in classical homeopathy with nutritional counseling, Walrad uses the holistic approach in her practice of 13 years.
Julian Whitaker Julian Whitaker, M.D., is director of the Whitaker Wellness Institute and editor of Health and Healing newsletter that provides important health advice for more than 500,000 people nationwide. Whitaker graduated from Dartmouth College in 1966, earned his medical degree at Emory University Medical School in Atlanta in 1970, and completed his internship at Grady Memorial Hospital, also in Atlanta, in 1971. In 1974, Dr. Whitaker founded the California Orthomolecular Medical Society, along with four other physicians and the Nobel prize-winning scientist Dr. Linus Pauling. Dr. Whitaker is the author of several books including the best-selling Shed 10 Years in 10 Weeks.
David WInston David Winston, AHG, is an herbalist and ethnobotanist with over 35 years of training in Cherokee, Chinese and Western herbal traditions. He is an herbal consultant to many physicians and other healthcare professionals throughout the US and Canada. Winston is the author of Herbal Therapy & Supplements and Adaptogens: Herbs for Strength, Stamina and Stress Relief.
Matthew Wood, AHG, is an herbalist and homeopath, as well as adjunct faculty at CCNH. He is an internationally renowned author and teacher with more than 20 years of experience. His books include Seven Herbs: Plants as Teachers, The Book of Herbal Wisdom, and The Practice of Traditional Western Herbalism.
