Cool Snacks for Kids

Children need healthy snacks to nourish their growing bodies.

Granola Fruit Kabobs

1 cup granola
1 medium apple, cut into chunks
1 small banana, cut into chunks
1/2 cup fresh pineapple chunks
1/2 cup fruit flavored yogurt

Place granola in shallow bowl. Toss fruit with a small amount of lemon juice to deter browning. Insert toothpicks into each piece of fruit. To serve, dip fruit in yogurt, coat all sides. Roll in granola.

When bringing these kabobs to a picnic, pack the granola, yogurt, and fruit separately in tightly covered plastic containers. Keep cold in a cooler until ready to serve.

Peanut Butter Balls

2 Tablespoons honey
4 Tablespoons peanut butter
2 cups granola
2 – 4 Tablespoons milk, or as needed

In a large bowl, mix together the honey and peanut butter. Using a spatula, stir in the granola. Add enough milk to just moisten—you want it to stick together. Form into balls. Chill until ready to serve.
