Edible Flowers—“Scentual” Gifts for Mom

Salt Scrub

5 lbs sea salt
1 ounce vegetable glycerin
1/2 ounce essential oils or fragrance oils OR 1-2 cups flower petals

Combine glycerin with scent. Pour sea salt in a jar and add the glycerin mixture. Turn jar to mix. Fill containers — decorative or apothecary jars and scoop out with a seashell.

Lavender Body Powder

2/3 cup arrowroot powder
2/3 cup cornstarch
6 tablespoons white clay*
3 tablespoons dried lavender

*Clay available at most health food stores
Grind whole Lavender flowers in a clean coffee grinder to desired fineness. Use a glass bowl; mix arrowroot powder, cornstarch and Lavender. Optional to add a few drops of essential oil to boost scent. Stir.
Store in a glass sealed container. Nice as a gift in a shaker bottle with holes in the top.

Bath Oil

Almond or castor oil
Essential oils
Decorative bottles
Dried lavender, orange peel, rosebuds

Pour almond or castor oil into bottles, and add your favorite essential oils. Add dried lavender, orange peel or rosebuds — be generous so the scent will be strong. (Try blending scents to create your own special formula.) Swirl to mix well, and oil is ready to use immediately. Cork or place lids on bottles. To give bottles as gifts, tie on a ribbon and add a tag or label listing the ingredients and explaining how to use the oil.
These oils are a fraction of the cost of commercial ones, and they smell and look wonderful. Collect interesting bottles and jars for storing oils when you shop at antiques stores or flea markets.
