Rejuvenating Teas

The new year has begun and the food festival that was the holidays is mercifully over. Our attention turns back to healthy eating. Consuming healthy herb teas is great way to mitigate some of the holiday's over indulgence. Try one of the concoctions below!

Liver Lover

Both of the herbs in this infusion have been used for supporting the liver.

1 teaspoon clover blossoms
1 teaspoon milk thistle seeds, crushed or ground

Decoct seeds by simmering in 2 to 3 cups water for 10 minutes. Add clover and steep 10 minutes.

Spring Tonic

Try this tea for a "spring clean." The herbs in it are considered to be cleansing herbs.

1 teaspoon fennel seeds, crushed
1 teaspoon dandelion root, ground
1 teaspoon dried alfalfa leaves

Mix herbs. Infuse 1 teaspoon mixture in 1 cup boiling water. Steep 5 to 10 minutes, or to taste.

Golden Cleansing Tea

A lemony-flavored brew, these herbs are suggested for support against urinary infections or bladder problems.

1 teaspoon dried goldenrod leaves/flowers
1 teaspoon dried bearberry (uva-ursi) leaves
1 teaspoon dried lemon balm leaves
1 teaspoon dried lemon verbena leaves

Mix herbs. Infuse 1 teaspoon mixture in 1 cup boiling water and steep 10 to 15 minutes.

Cleansing Tea

Try this first-aid tea to cleanse the system; it's herbs are good for when you're recovering from a cold.

1 teaspoon dried yarrow leaves or flowers
1 teaspoon dried wintergreen or mint leaves
1 tablespoon fresh violet flowers

Mix herbs. Infuse 1 teaspoon mixture in 1 cup boiling water. Steep 5 to 10 minutes.
