Teas for Spring Cleaning

Best Detox Tea

This tea has been referred to as the single most effective herbal tea for detoxifying the body and strengthening immunity and resistance on a daily basis.

2 cups water
1 teaspoon dried sage
1/2 teaspoon dried St. John’s wort
1/2 teaspoon peppermint

Bring water to a boil in a non–aluminum pot. Lower the heat and add the sage, allowing mixture to simmer for exactly 3 minutes, then remove pan from heat. Add the St. John’s wort and peppermint, cover with a lid, and let steep exactly 10 minutes. Strain tea into a thermos or bottle, discarding the dregs.

Turning–the–Tide Happy Cleanse Tea

This is a classic blood purifying blend that works through the liver and lymphatic channels. It’s especially appropriate for those who may be coming off of sugar, drugs, or alcohol.

2 parts burdock root
2 parts raw dandelion root
2 parts roasted dandelion root
2 parts sarsaparilla root
1 part echinacea root
1 part Oregon grape root

Add approximately 1 ounce of herb blend to 1 quart of boiling water, reduce heat, and simmer in a covered pot for 30 minutes. Turn off heat, and steep 30 minutes.

The herbs in this tea recipe support the health and function of the liver.

3 parts lemon balm
1 part chamomile
1 part oats
1/2 part chrysanthemum flowers
1/2 part rose petals
1/4 part lavender flowers
Stevia to taste (Optional)

Combine the herbs. Prepare as an infusion, by boiling 1 cup of water per tablespoon of herb. Pour boiling water over herbs and let steep 30–60 minutes.

Lymph Congestion Tea

The herbs in this formula are known to have a positive effect on the lymphatic system. This tea aids proper lymphatic drainage.

2 parts calendula
2 parts cleavers
1 part mullein
1 part spearmint (or any flavorful herb of your choice)

Prepare as an infusion. Boil one quart of water per ounce of herb (or one cup of water to one Tablespoon herb). Pour water over the herbs and let steep for 30 to 60 minutes.
