Springtime can’t arrive soon enough as many of us may still be fighting those wintertime cold symptoms. We don’t want the coughs, colds, flus, and congestion of winter to keep us from enjoying the first signs of spring. The following warm, healthful teas can help us stop feeling under the weather, and prepare us to enjoy the much needed warmer spring season.
This tea blend is made up of antitussive herbs. Antitussives help suppress coughs, making this a great tea to calm those annoying tickles in the throat.
2 parts elderberry 2 parts peppermint leaf 1 part marshmallow root 1 part mullein leaf 1 part red clover blossom 1 part thyme 1/2 part licorice root
Combine above herbs and add one heaping teaspoon of the blend to one cup of boiling water. Steep for 10-20 minutes.

The herbs in this tea blend help remedy infections, fevers, and chills.
2 parts echinacea root 2 parts peppermint leaf 2 parts yarrow flower 1 part elder flower and berry 1 part ginger root
This formula is helpful for clearing bronchial congestion and is safe for children. It can be made into a tea, syrup, or tincture. For teas more licorice, cinnamon, and ginger may be added to enhance the flavor.
2 parts licorice root 1 part cinnamon 1 part echinacea 1 part elecampane 1/4 part ginger
Combine herbs and add 1 to 3 tablespoons to a cup of boiling water, or 4 to 8 tablespoons to each quart of boiling water.
This powerful blend, which is spicy and warming, works to combat the flu and fight off germs.
2 Tablespoons grated ginger 2 cloves chopped garlic 4-5 orange slices Juice of one lemon 1-2 Tablespoons honey
Add ginger, garlic, and orange to 2 cups of boiling water. Reduce heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes. Remove from heat and steep 15-20 minutes. Add lemon juice and sweeten with honey to desired taste.
This steam helps remedy sinus congestion and stuffy noses.
Water Eucalyptus essential oil
Heat a large pot of water until it is steaming. Remove from heat. Add one to two drops of Eucalyptus essential oil. Set pot of water on table. A towel can be draped over the head while leaning head over the pot. Steam may be inhaled for 5-10 minutes.
