Red Clover Tea

Red clover is an excellent source for many nutrients such as calcium, vitamin C, niacin, chromium, magnesium, phosphorous, and potassium. The addition of mint and honey to this recipe makes this a tasty way to increase your nutrient intake.

1 cup red clover blossoms
2 tablespoons mint (spearmint or peppermint)
4 cups water
Honey, to sweeten

Bring the water to a boil. Remove from heat. Add clover blossoms and mint. Steep about 10 minutes. Strain. Add honey or sugar to taste.

Nourishing Daily Blend

This blend also contains red clover and adds the additional nutritional benefits of oat straw. Oat straw is a valuable source of vitamins A and C as well as vitamin B complex. The burdock in this blend provides the addition of calcium, potassium, and iron, making this a powerfully nutritious recipe.

1 part burdock
1 part cinnamon
1 part nettle
1 part oat straw
1 part red clover blossoms
1/10 part cinnamon chips (optional)

Add burdock root to boiling water, reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and add the remaining ingredients. Mix well, cover, and steep an additional 15-20 minutes.

Dandelion Coffee

Dandelion is rich in vitamin A and also contains B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin D, iron, magnesium, and zinc. While this recipe provides these important vitamins and minerals, it also makes a wonderful, caffeine-free substitute for coffee. Replacing one of two cups of your normal coffee intake with this recipe is a helpful way to slowly wean yourself off the caffeine without the severity of withdrawal symptoms.

1 heaping teaspoon dandelion root
1 pint water

Scrub dandelion roots with vegetable brush until clean. Place roots in a dry, warm place for two weeks until dry. Once dry, roast the roots in oven for four hours at 200 degrees. Cool and store. Simmer 1 teaspoon of roots in 1 pint of water for ten minutes.

Strong Bones Tea

This blend combines many of the herbs presented in the recipes above. This mixture of nutritious herbs is a good source of absorbable calcium, magnesium, and iron as well as other trace minerals, making this a wonderful recipe to provide us with strength right down to our bones.

Red clover

2 parts oat straw
2 parts nettle
1 part alfalfa leaves
1 part horsetail
1 part red clover blossoms
1 part rose hips
1 part violet leaves and flowers

Combine herbs and cover with boiling water. Stir well, cover, and steep 15-20 minutes.

Horsetail Nail Strengthener

Horsetail is rich in silica, which is helpful to strengthen bones and connective tissues as well as to form collagen. Horsetail increases calcium absorption, promoting healthy skin, nails, and hair.

2 1/2 cups water
6 tablespoons dried horsetail stems

Pour water over horsetail and infuse for four hours. Place on heat and bring to boil. Reduce heat. Simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and steep 30 minutes. Strain.

To strengthen nails it is recommended every two days to soak fingernails in warm sunflower oil for 15 minutes and then in horsetail mixture another 15 minutes.
