Bruce Black, B.S. in Natural Health

He is a martial arts enthusiast and an inspirational writer, an I.T. project manager for the Federal Government, a husband and a father of two.

Bruce Black knows the power of thought. “I was the kind of teenager who could happily spend a whole day in the library while my friends were out water-skiing,” he recalls. His idea of peace is absolutely an inside job, grounded in knowledge and uplifted by an attitude of faith. One of his core beliefs is that we, alone, construct our own reality — and this reality applies to body, mind and spiritual health.

“What we choose to give our energy to will grow. What we ignore or neglect will wither and die. To bolster our emotional health,” he adds, “we can think of our health as being like the health of a tree. We gain additional strength each time our branches bend with the wind. But if we are rigid, the first winds of change will cause our branches to snap. Resistance causes energy blockages, which create unbalance and ultimately, dis-ease.”

Bruce earned his Bachelor’s degree with CCNH in order to continue growing the various other “branches” of his life while also sending out some new roots to deepen his knowledge. He recalls being particularly inspired by our course work in vitamin and mineral therapies.

Of the more than 2/3 of American adults — about 181 million people — who regularly use supplements, many of us either take them inconsistently or we may overlap in one or more areas while leaving other areas lacking, he observes. Bruce recently affiliated with an innovative product called Custom Essentials by Ideal Health, which is available only through independent distributors.

The company’s three-part Privatest urinalysis determines a marker for free radical oxidant stress in the immune system, for liver detoxification ability, and for nitric oxide regulation of vascular and nervous system function. Its formulary and testing laboratories then customize a unique nutraceutical compound for each client. These blends can contain up to 55 nutrients, such as whole vitamins, digestive enzymes, antioxidants, chelated minerals, phytonutrients, organic herbs and amino acids.

“For me, the formulas even out my daily flow of energy and give me a sense of calmness that comes from knowing, scientifically, that I am providing my body with its own perfect balance of nutrients,” he says.

Bruce also continues to apply his own low-tech and high-faith approach to matters of life and health. For instance: “Most of my family has high cholesterol, including me. I have learned to lower mine without medicine. You know, when you talk to your body reassuringly, affirmatively and often, your mind can redirect your energies. I, myself, can help my body to regain its balance.”
