Zoe–Ann Lynch, B.S. in Holistic Nutrition
“Every day is checks and balances”
Zoe–Ann Lynch is a banking operations specialist whose corporate benefits package literally changed her life.
“As a new employee being offered a free health assessment back in 1994, I was dismayed to learn that for someone my age, my cholesterol levels were off the chart. My lifestyle habits (then) included fast food, cigarettes, social drinking and infrequent exercise. I found at an early age that I am not invincible, and that the human body is a precious gift to treasure and care for. I actively changed my way of living.”
What a difference her decisions have made!
Realizing that raw, organic “yard food” is a girl’s best friend, she systematically shifted her eating habits — first by avoiding red meat, then dairy products, changing one habit at a time. Now a fan of earth foods and co–op markets, except for a rare “farm fish” her choices are mainly vegan.
“My mom is a retired nurse who has seen, for years, what happens when people don’t take care of their bodies. The things she tried to tell me, I can now embrace. It’s fun, too, to share what I’ve learned about herbs, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.”
In recent years Zoe–Ann’s banking colleagues have benefited from having an unofficial “go–to” person for motivating advice on exercise and holistic nutrition. And in fact, a perfect 4.0 graduation from CCNH represents her second success with distance learning for health’s sake.
Designated by NESTA as a Certified Personal Trainer, within the last decade her self–styled fitness routines have included running, kick–boxing and martial arts. After learning the physiological benefits of nutritional supplements, Zoe–Ann is now affiliated with USANA Health Sciences and its products.
In the mid-90s she discovered a passion for the interpretive movements of African dance, which still remains her weekly devotion. “As I enjoy the rhythms of the drums along with the dance movements, my breathing is energized and I create a stronger connection to my creativity. I wish people would actively seek to discover what brings them joy, and allow themselves the ease of becoming more aware of life’s energies.
“Life is less confusing when you decide, moment by moment, to keep a fresh perspective rather than sleeping through life with blind, automatic routines. My new goal is to teach classes here at the bank or in the community — on the mood/food connection, skin care and exercise. The more you know, the better your life choices can be.”
