Suzzanne Jocson-Bangsil, candidate for N.H.D.
“A Road Less Traveled”

Doctoral candidate Suzzanne Jocson–Bangsil spends her days immersed in the frenetic and fanciful world of fashion. Working as a photo stylist for Mod Magazine and with various other Manila–based television and print media, Suzzanne enjoys role–modeling the calm poise of sensible living amid a vast image–conscious audience of young Filipino–American women.

But Suzzanne’s most important audience member of all is her preteen son.

“At age four, he was diagnosed with lymphoma. Two of his grandparents have faced the threat of cancer; two of my grandparents died young from cancer. Our forbears have had other genetic tendencies toward significant neurological and psychological conditions, all of which motivated me to look for preventive approaches to help keep our family’s health in balance—holistically.

“I believe that spiritual health is developed intentionally and systematically, through study and faithful devotion, just as strong muscles come from the nutritional sustenance we choose and from daily movement that builds physical strength and emotional fortitude. I believe we are freely given many tools, through nature, that can help individuals reverse generations of health dangers.”

By her own example, Suzzanne’s favorite all–natural stress management techniques are boxing, spinning and weight–training; diligently and purposefully, several times each week. Deciding to make health a priority, she enjoys taking time to shop for and serve alkalizing meals that emphasize fresh fruit and vegetables, supplemented by barley green, pressed coconut oil, and various herbs.

Along with her doctoral studies in natural health, Suzzanne is trained in prayer ministry through Wholeness Ministries International. She also enjoys teaching the empowering simplicity of natural beauty through one–on–one coaching—from holistic skincare to herbal and mineral supplementation for energy, mental clarity, poise, and confidence.

Can vitamins and food choices help one’s memory? Absolutely, she says. Can exercise build graceful agility for business presentations? Definitely a greater energetic resilience for “thinking on one’s feet” comes from improved blood circulation and from the sheer confidence of disciplined self–mastery.

And what about her young son’s victory over cancer? Suzzanne counts the power of prayer as another natural sign, and as further natural proof that her personal crusade of helping others to “look inside” and to “heal externally by building and creating robust health internally” can be extremely potent medicine.

“Although starting down the ‘green way’ to natural health is not always easy, since at first it will often seem like ‘a road less traveled,’ my family is learning to faithfully embrace the healing crises that come in our lives. Do we master this every day? We certainly get closer, with each intentional step we take.”

After earning her N.H.D. degree, Suzzanne’s next dream is to deepen her understanding of eastern and western healing methods by studying traditional Chinese medicine in the classroom and then training to become an O.M.D.
