Donna Regalado, candidate for M.S. and Ph.D. in Natural Health
Donna Regalado completed her Pre-Med education in the Philippines and was planning to pursue her Doctorate in Medicine when she was lured into the world of computers. Over the next 18 years she was very successful as a programmer, programming instructor, systems analyst, project manager, data base manager, and finally, in her words, “a very stressed out and sick systems services manager.”
In addition to her hectic work life, Donna was also trying very hard to become pregnant. In fact, Donna believes that taking too many fertility drugs for too many years produced side-effects that led her to several surgeries. Learning to cope with a new set of post-operative side-effects made it difficult for Donna to live any semblance of a normal life.
When she and her husband moved to Australia to continue their computer careers, they investigated various clinical trials for infertility treatment. For six years they followed experimental protocols that held new side-effects, including dizziness, temporary paralysis, permanent damage to her veins, temporary loss of short-term memory, and excessive weight gain.
When her father faced what was described as a terminal illness, Donna saw, as an educated observer, that investigative treatments could cause more harm than good. Donna started listening to her intuition’s gentle, but persistent, tugging to do things differently. Introducing her father to a macrobiotic diet helped him live five more years without medical treatment.
When she discovered Sunrider Regenerative Products she recognized similar principles as macrobiotics, but in fast-food form. “You can balance your yin, yang, and the five elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with foods that are portable and that taste good,” she says. Donna ultimately regained her own health by customizing Sunrider products to meet her nutritional needs. Within three months she stopped needing her 14 medications. Six months later she was completely symptom-free and had dropped from a size 22 to a size 12.
Her recovery initiated a gigantic shift in Donna’s life and career. “Our wonderful miracle body can actually repair itself if we give it the raw materials that it needs,” says Donna. “I regained my health and a quality of living that I did not even realize I had lost.”
She then embarked on intensive research to understand the myriad of miracles that happened to her. Her computer and analytical skills, as well as her Western scientific background, were useful for analyzing, synthesizing, simplifying, and presenting information about the nature of the human body. She made it her mission in life to teach, in a lighthearted manner, the profound and often overlooked message that the human body is indeed a miracle.
A well-received guest speaker at various group functions including Sunrider and the Natural Living Expos, Donna decided to research holistic health distance-learning programs and ultimately chose CCNH: “Your curriculum went straight to what I wanted to learn. I did not have to [retake] subjects that had already been part of my bachelor’s and master’s studies.”
Through teleconferencing and Internet seminars, Donna Regalado has become a global holistic health mentor. She has written a colorful, fact-filled workbook called BuddyWorks and is currently writing her second book, The Courage to Regenerate.
