Perhaps you’ve wondered: Just how does a new student begin his or her Clayton College admissions process? Here are excerpts from the CCNH enrollment essay submitted by Jessica Geppert of California.
…As a volunteer director of fundraising for two disease-fighting organizations, I frequently interact with people who are directly affected by cystic fibrosis and retinal degenerative diseases. On one end of the spectrum, many with cystic fibrosis rely solely on prescription drugs. Conversely, people who have macular degeneration do not currently have drug therapies available, only vitamin protocols. For both groups, I would like to gain the knowledge to share information on nutrition as well as refer people to publications and other helpful resources.
…Additionally, I feel that my extra-curricular interest in prenatal nutrition for women living at high altitudes can grow and develop through my earning this degree. My husband has been working in Tibet since 1998 with the survey and treatment of congenital heart disease (CHD) within this population. “Touching Hearts” is a project of the South East Asia Prayer Center, which screens children and coordinates medical treatment through an international healthcare network. Because their belief is that nutritional depletion at birth is the cause of higher rates of CHD, I would like to use the knowledge of holistic nutrition to research the nutritional supplement needs for women of childbearing age and assist in creating a supplement distribution program for children.
…I strongly believe that the CCNH program will position me to help others and provide the best platform to reach my goals.
