Kastin Mattern, Candidate for Bachelor of Science in Natural Health
Perhaps you’ve wondered… Just how does a new student begin his or her Clayton College admissions process? Here are excerpts from the enrollment essay submitted by Kastin Mattern of Madrid, Spain.
…I have come to the firm conviction that a healthy mind signifies a healthy body. This is in accordance with the philosophy of disease and sickness prevention: before infirmity manifests itself, instead of treatment of symptoms after the body’s balance has become upset. I believe the only way to achieve this is through a healthy relationship between humans, animals and plants, or entire earth balance; through the methods of natural health care. For this reason, environmental consciousness is imperative for the health of the human race. While modern Western medicine has made incredible strides and has its place, many people are now finding the value in alternative medicine and turning to a more natural approach as the general mindset changes in accordance with a global shift of consciousness.
…My personal search has led me to the more natural, alternative/complementary methods: learning the benefits of meditation, homeopathy, vibrational essences, Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine, and acupressure, among a variety of other things. Naturally I developed a wish to help others through my own experiences with energetic and intuitive healing in addition to other healing modalities. While I believe that work on this level is extremely important, care of the physical body on a more concrete level through health consciousness is truly mandatory.
