Janice Riley, Candidate for Doctor of Naturopathy for Healthcare Professionals

Perhaps you’ve wondered… Just how does a new student begin his or her Clayton College admissions process? Here are excerpts from the enrollment essay submitted by Janice Riley, a hospital employee who lives in Jamaica. CCNH congratulates Ms. Riley for receiving our school’s 2008 Nella P. Oppenborn Memorial Scholarship.

“Naturopathy Struck a Special Cord within My Consciousness”

…It was not long after becoming familiar with Clayton College that I had the privilege of dialoging with a naturopath who, even though she, herself did not study with CCNH, she said she regards the school highly and did not hesitate to recommend Clayton College of Natural Health.

It is my desire to realize my career dreams by studying naturopathy through your school. Such an experience will not only fulfill my love for and natural inclination toward natural health, but will help equip me to join the ranks of ardent natural health professionals and get involved in the campaign aimed at alleviating the suffering of generations who wound themselves with the weapons of poor health and lifestyle choices.

To practice and teach naturopathy is the climax of my career dreams. As a naturopath I will provide people with accurate information about how they can take better care of their body temples. I will help clients to realize that the body has a tremendous ability to heal itself, provided that it is given the optimal conditions in which to thrive. Patiently I will help clients to work through their lifestyle issues and seek more rewarding options. I will make use of healthy foods and instruct clients regarding the powerful healing properties of food, herbs and other nutritional supplements. I am ready to learn, so that I may help others live healthier lives.
