Robert A. Williams

Robert A. Williams, candidate for Natural Wellness Certificate

Perhaps you’ve wondered… Just how does a new student begin his or her Clayton College admissions process? Here are excerpts from the enrollment essay submitted by Robert A. Williams of Indiana. Robbie works as a Lead Flight Paramedic and serves as a Captain of his local Volunteer Fire Department. He has worked in Emergency Medicine for 15 years and, before that, worked in a small animal clinic during his teenage years.

“Looking at more natural means of caring for illness and injuries”

…Over the years I have seen a multitude of changes occur within healthcare: advanced techniques, regimens, and procedures, and also new forms of support. I have seen more and more people starting to look at natural methods for caring for illness and injuries.

…As medicine becomes more expensive and insurance companies become stricter on what they will pay for, more individuals are returning to the origin of healthcare: natural remedies. People will continue to have illnesses and injuries, and I want to learn a wide variety of ways to help them.

…I’ve noticed at times, being summoned on a holiday to help transport an elderly person from the nursing home to seek medical care, that all the person may really need is for someone to stop and listen to them for a little while. It is amazing sometimes what a little bit of human kindness can do, when all someone may really need is a friendly ear and a human connection.

…In my work as a paramedic, it makes me feel proud when someone says they know that I will always do everything possible, within my power, to help people. I strive to leave no stone unturned, which just means that we need to really talk with somebody and really listen to what’s going on. I feel that natural health practitioners are more inclined to work this way and to serve as the strongest advocate possible for those who need them.
