Academics' News and Notes

Antoinette Percy-Laurry, M.S.P.H., faculty advisor, completed her Doctor of Naturopathy degree this summer. Antoinette also has a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a master’s in Public Health. Congratulations Antoinette! We appreciate your great contribution to Clayton College and we are proud of your accomplishment.

Once again, September brought Health Day to Clayton College. For four years now, in late summer CCNH faculty and practitioners have offered their services to the entire staff. The focus for this year’s Health Day was “staying healthy in the workplace.” Most practitioners addressed self-care for the workplace, while others offered nutrition information, whole grain recipes and fresh juice in the interactive “healthy kitchen.” From iridology consultations, self-myofascial release, and yoga for the workplace, to flower essences, relaxation techniques, ergonomics, and massage (including self-massage for the office), the CCNH staff had a relaxing, interactive, and informative afternoon.

We extend a special thanks to Virginia College for sending us massage therapy students for the day. Also, the management included time to focus the center of attention on all CCNH employees, sharing stories, compliments, and a gift of appreciation for everyone. The staff and faculty had a great time “practicing what we teach”!
