Who and What’s New in Academics
This spring the academic department rose to the challenge of balancing student advising with preparing for the Natural Health Conference. We’d like to formally thank Antoinette Percy-Laurry for handling all the student issues that arose while the rest of the faculty was at the conference.
During the conference students were able to have one-on-one conversations with their advisors in the group called “Meet your faculty advisor.” Many students shared their personal stories and passions for their Clayton College education. During this same time period, Holly Cowan was busy conducting a “Networking” sharing time. The participants shared what they are doing with their education and gave others ideas on how to get to know practitioners in their areas.
Avie Overbach, Misty White and Janice Martin also conducted a sharing time, discussing how to complete the dissertation. Many students expressed great relief when they learned that there would be support and feedback throughout the multi-step process. Those who gathered for the Consulting Practicum sharing circle expressed the same sense of relief that they are not alone in this process. Susie Hale took them through the steps of completing the practicum and assured them that faculty is available each step of the way. Participants were assured that our job is to help students be successful in their dissertation and practicum experience. The faculty had a marvelous time getting to know students, graduates and speakers. We invite everyone to consider attending the conference in 2005!
