Europeans Embrace Alternatives for Cancer Therapy
A survey published in February 2005 by the BBC news indicates that one-third of all Europeans with cancer use alternative approaches. The most frequently used approaches are herbs, followed by homeopathy and vitamin and mineral supplements. One thousand individuals were surveyed.
Sleep and All That Jazz
Forget prescriptions, herbs and supplements to go to sleep. Forty- five minutes of relaxing music before bed resulted in physiological changes that induce sleep. An improvement of 26% was seen in the first week and continued improvement after the first week. What type of music? Soft jazz, folk and orchestral music provided improved sleep and daytime functioning.
Like Thai Food?
Tests revealed that galangal, a ginger-like root used to flavor the dishes, appears to kill cancer cells. A team from King’s College, London, believes the root can not only attack cancer cells, but also protect healthy ones from cancer-causing substances. Researchers who tested galangal extracts on breast and lung cancer cells found it reduced the incidence of the disease threefold (ANI).
