From the Office of Student and Graduate Affairs
Students and graduates of Clayton College have had two enormous opportunities to meet, network and share experiences in the last few months. First, the student and graduate reception that CCNH hosted in Anaheim, CA on March 19 brought more than 150 California CCNH-ers together with some of the CCNH staff for a glorious gathering. Here is where many met Bernyse Hunter, a recent PhD graduate of CCNH who is 91 years young!
Then, at the fourth annual CCNH conference last month, more than 250 participants gathered to learn, share stories from their own lives and practices, and meet the many speakers and staff that were available throughout the weekend. The energy and synergy that emerged during these events will pulse through many of us for months to come.
Thursday evening at CCNH's 25th Anniversary party, Bernyse was presented with the first “CCNH Practice What We Teach” award, an event that touched the heart of all present. At age 91, Bernyse is truly an inspiration to everyone and she received a standing ovation after a brief speech about the nutritional benefits of her favorite fruits and vegetables. Throughout the remainder of the conference, participants and speakers sought her out just to feel her special presence.
Table to table at the reception and session after session at the conference found students and graduates meeting one another, trading business cards, making plans to form local groups, and sharing techniques and approaches that work in their own practice.
