Promoting the Profession

CCNH’s history and educational foundation are grounded in the philosophy of traditional naturopathy. As a profession, traditional naturopathy is on the rise and our graduates are leading the way by choosing to practice as professional traditional naturopaths. As the college builds its programs around developing these professionals and offering experts in the field to support them, we are proud to announce that Stewart Mitchell has joined our faculty as Adjunct Professor of Traditional Naturopathy and Cherie Sohnen-Moe has accepted the position of Adjunct Professor of Practice Education to assist the curriculum and academic departments in this new direction.

Director of Practitioner Education has become my new role. I will work with the curriculum and academic departments, affiliate professional organizations and credentialing boards, and our growing number of graduate practitioners to expand and “promote the profession.” I will be assisting the curriculum director in reviewing and revising the practitioner focused courses at the doctoral as well as the undergraduate level.

Our relationships with professional organizations have extended to include intensive, direct CCNH participation. In addition, students and graduates around the country have begun gathering and forming networking and, oftentimes, educational forums. Many of these people are practitioners who are seeking avenues for continuing education and look to CCNH for support and facilitation of their goals.

My fortune to be a CCNH graduate, an employee of eight years, a speaker at our annual conference, and part of the CCNH family keeps me growing and glowing! Now, with a new role and title, I look ahead to all of the opportunities awaiting me.
