FATMAH AZAM–ALI, Bachelor of Natural Health Studies graduate and Doctor of Naturopathy student, lives in Saudi Arabia, and she was recently contacted by a natural health doctor in her city who offered her a job at his center. The doctor found Fatmah through natural health searches online and then visited www.ccnh.edu and, coincidentally, Fatmah was featured as a graduate spotlight. She intends to join his team within 2–3 months. Fatmah writes, “It takes ages for people to fill this kind of job after placing several ads in newspapers and online, but for me it was just my success and my degree from CCNH that offered me an opportunity when I was only thinking about it. I owe so much to this college!” Fatmah is also a published freelance writer. She recently authored Tes Sante: Your Ultimate Self–Help Guide to Living Healthy and Weight Loss, and she is the author and publisher of the e–zine Heal Today. SHARRIE THOMAS-HANLEY, BS, MS in Natural Health, and Doctor of Naturopathy graduate. As part of her BS in Natural Health degree requirements, Sharrie had to take a field trip to a water treatment or recycling facility, and then present a project demonstrating her findings. That project has become an educational film on the importance and the process of paper recycling that is now being used in local schools and other businesses.
RENITA HERMANN, MS in Natural Health graduate. Renita recently completed her 4 year certification in Homeopathy from the Institute of Classical Homeopathy, and is running a thriving practice in San Francisco that specializes in panic attacks and children’s issues.
DIANNE KAPRAL, Doctor of Naturopathy graduate. In 2005 Dianne published The Inevitable Change–Natural & Beautiful, available at Amazon.com, Borders.com, and www.lulu.com. Dianne authored The Inevitable Change because she realized women need a quick reference to the changes their bodies are going through. The Inevitable Change has also been translated into Italian. RICHARD T. KNOWLTON, Doctor of Naturopathy graduate. Since graduating in 1990, Richard has completed a master’s degree in Nursing with a specialty in Family Practice (1994), and he is currently serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq with 2/9 CAV 4th ID Camp Wilson. Richard provides primary health care and trauma care in the capacity of Nurse Practitioner and Senior Medical Officer to Line troops at his post. He also directs the combat lifesaving training and medic training for the Iraqi Army stationed in his area. Richard writes, “I use my naturopathy background daily with health consulting and education with patient care. I provide a positive example with my own life style, i.e. a vegetarian diet, stress management and exercise. I have helped 12 soldiers successfully stop smoking and many more are making more healthy life style changes with their diets.” The Army Medical Department credo is to “sustain the fight force,” and to Richard that not only means taking care of the sick and wounded, but also sustaining the health and wellness of the troops. Richard also took the certification board exam through the American Naturopathic Certification Board and earned his Certified Traditional Naturopath (CTN) credentials in October of 2004.
REBECCA MCKEE, PhD in Holistic Nutrition graduate.In 2005 Rebecca authored Woman, Find Your Voice, Vision, Power. In addition to staying busy with book signing events, Rebecca also conducts workshops based on the book. The workshops feature movement through music and are intended to help release trauma at the cellular level.
JAMIE MEJIA, Doctor of Naturopathy graduate. On January 31, 2006, Jaime, together with two representatives of the Pan American Health Organization, made a presentation to the Costa Rica Ministry of Health. The presentation was in favor of the acceptance and approval of naturopathy by the health authorities Costa Rica. After Jaime and his colleagues spoke in behalf of naturopathy, it was agreed that naturopathic practitioners will be accepted and protected by the law as soon as the nation inscribes its naturopathic confederation.
