It’s barely spring so it’s not too late to wish everyone a happy, healthy, prosperous and joyous new year. Here is the part of the newsletter where I usually do “my own thing” for a few lines—thanks for the kind words some of you shared with me about my ramblings—but for this issue of the Holistic Times, I want to talk a bit about the newsletter itself and how it has changed through the years.
Experienced readers have probably already noticed a few changes in the look and size of the newsletter and, for both the new and seasoned readers, this issue is a landmark issue—the Holistic Times gets its first cover to kick off its 13th year in print!
The newsletter began in 1994 as a single–sheet, four–page publication with only three issues in its first volume, but the growth potential was evident even back then. The second and third issues of volume one were single–sheet, six–page foldouts, a rather unique format in newsletters. It seemed we were adding four more pages every couple of years until last year, when we produced a 32–page issue. Clearly, it was time to take a look at the Holistic Times and where we wanted it go in the future.
So, we published a reader’s survey to get your input on the newsletter. As a result, this year is an experimental year for the Holistic Times. We’ll try to expand some of the content you let us know you most enjoyed or wanted to see in your newsletter. You might also see new features and columns being introduced throughout the year, while other columns may evolve or take on a new direction.
The newsletter, like most other pieces of writing, is an organic entity that evolves and grows over time. With that in mind, we invite you to continue to provide us feedback about the newsletter. We’ve left the link to the reader’s survey active, so please take a moment to let us know your thoughts on the latest issue of the Holistic Times.
Inside this issue of the Holistic Times you’ll find articles on natural health travels and an engaging interview with educator, activist and herbalist Rosemary Gladstar, who is presenting at our 5th annual natural health conference in Peachtree City, Georgia, April 20–23.
Remember, Earth Day is April 20th, and the 22nd will be a day of numerous local celebrations worldwide. If you can’t celebrate this important day of awareness with us at the conference, be sure to find an activity for you and your family in your area.
