State Level Student and Graduate Group Activities
In 2005 with the help of eager volunteers, CCNH launched
13 state level student and graduate groups. Existing groups are
meeting for networking, discussing their CCNH education, and
pursuing natural health lifestyle activities. Others have established
groups to bring together current and prospective natural
health practitioners to discuss the field in general, to encourage
referrals, and to aid in educating the public on the benefits within
our field.
- Maggie Conklin’s western Michigan group spent their
inaugural meeting discussing dissertations, the differences
between degree programs at CCNH, animal health and nutrition,
and different outlets of work upon graduation. They
also took a walk to point out common wild herbs that grow
in Maggie’s area, and they picked the rest of her ever–bearing
raspberries. For the next meeting everyone was encouraged
to bring their favorite healthy recipes to exchange and
perhaps make a cookbook. They are also scheduling a field
trip to a large organic farm in the next few months.
- Agnes Nowakowski’s San Francisco, CA group’s activities
have included a visit to a local herb garden and a presentation
by a CCNH Herbal Studies student, a presentation from
another student on aromatherapy and specific oils to use for
ailments, and a presentation by Agnes on her findings at an
herbal symposium. They also had a soy candle making party
using essentials oils and healthy wax.
These are just a few of the activities the groups are organizing.
