ClassNOTES
Graduates
Ernest Chupp, B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Holistic Nutrition graduate. After seeing much success in his clients who used aloe vera as a food supplement and writing his dissertation on the subject, Chupp built an aloe vera processing plant in Paraguay in 1996. Now he is working with people in Argentina who are so impressed with his techniques that they are translating the information into Spanish and Italian for international audiences. Chupp notes that holistic healthcare is well received in his country because its modalities have helped the local cotton farmers who suffer from exposure to toxic chemicals that have accumulated in their bodies over a long period of time. Margaret Self, bachelor of Natural Health Studies and Doctor of Natural Health graduate. Self was recently featured in her local newspaper, The State, of Columbia, South Carolina, for her medicine wheel herb garden. Self dug up her old square vegetable garden and started arranging her herbs in a traditional Native American wheel formation with four quadrants, separated by stone pathways. She originally wanted to organize the wheel by color, but as she says, the plants “let you know what they want. The plants migrated to where they wanted to be.” Self and her garden will also be featured on “Making it Grow,” a program on South Carolina’s ETV on February 20, 2007. Tune in if you live in the area.
