How do I create a Clayton College of Natural Health Ning profile?

When you go to the Clayton College of Natural Health network, you will be asked to Sign In or Sign Up. If you are new to the site, you will need to select Sign Up.

You will be directed to a page that allows you to create a password to use as your login information on this network only. Be sure to keep a copy of your login information in a safe place.

When you create a Ning ID, you can also add a set of basic details and your photo to your Ning ID account. These details are then pre-populated whenever you join a new social network that uses the Ning ID for authentication. It also enables you to keep track of your friends and messages across all the social networks that use it.

Once you have signed up for the CCNH network, you will receive this confirmation:

How do I change or reset my password?

Sign in to the Clayton College network. Click on the My Settings link in the upper right corner of the page. Then click Change next to the password field.

How do I change my profile photo?

To change your profile photo, sign into the Clayton College network and click the My Settings link on the upper right side of the page. Click on the blue/green photo icon next to Your Photo. A small window will pop open. Click the Browse button under “Upload a file from your computer.” Locate an image on your computer and click Done. When you upload a new photo, the old one will be deleted.

New profile photos can take up to thirty minutes to show up on networks you belong to, so don't worry if your new photo doesn't appear immediately!

Can I change what photos, videos, and forum posts show up on My Page?

Absolutely! Sign into the network and go to your profile page. Click “Edit” in the header of the item you want to modify and you will see the display options. Make your selections and then click “Save” to see how it looks!

How do I change the theme of My Page?

To change the look of your page, go to your profile page and click the Theme link under your profile photo. You can choose a theme for your page, entirely separate from the network's theme, from the list of more than 50 available themes. You can also edit the default theme settings by modifying the colors and fonts in the Now, make it uniquely yours section.

How can I change the layout of My Page?

You can move content around your profile page. Simply follow these instructions!

Sign into the network. Go to the My Page tab. Put your mouse on the title bar of the box you would like to move. If it can be moved, a small crosshairs icon will appear to the left. Click and drag the box to its new location.

Continue doing this with different boxes until you have the perfect layout!

Certain elements on your profile page cannot be moved — your profile photo, basic info and the My Friends box, as well as anything in the right column. This is to make it simple to browse across different profile pages on the network and easily see who it is.

In addition, your comment wall can only be moved within the center column. Sometimes people post videos and photos and we want to make sure all this material still displays correctly. Other than that, have fun and create a great looking profile page!

Can I remove a feature from showing on My Page?

Yes. To remove a feature from your page, simply click on the Edit button in the header of the item you want to remove. Change Show to 0. Others won't see the box until you change it back. Here is an example of what this looks like on the Latest Activity feed:

Who can comment on my profile?

Comments on your profile page appear in the middle column. Any person who belongs to the same network as you can comment on your profile on that network and you can comment on any person's profile on any network you belong to.

You can, however, turn on comment moderation for your profile.

Go to your My Page tab and locate the comment wall. Click the Edit button in the header and click the Yes — approve comments first option. Click save.

What is a text box? What can I put in my text box?

A text box is a box to which you can add a variety of content. It’s just another way to make a page your own! Simply click the Edit button in the top right corner of the text box to get started. Clayton College network members can add the following to text boxes on their profile page:

  • Text
  • HTML
  • Pictures
  • Widgets
What is the RSS box for?

The RSS box on your profile page or group page allows you to include a news feed from another site on the page. Click the Edit button in the header of the RSS box and paste in the URL of the feed. You can change the title displayed in the header of the section to reflect the subject of the feed, change the display to detail view or titles only and change the number of items displayed.

Can I change what photos show on My Page?

Yes you can! Go to the photos box on your profile page and click the Edit button. You will see several options for what photos to show on your profile page.

How can I add music to My Page?

Here is how you can add music to the music player on your profile page!

Sign into the network. Go to your profile page by clicking the “My Page” tab. Find the “Add Music” link in the "My Music" section.

By default, you'll be able to use the bulk uploader to add up to 100 songs at a time to the network. The first time you use the uploader, you'll see a pop-up window that says “This applet was signed by Ning Inc and authenticated by VeriSign Inc. Do you trust this certificate?” Click the “Trust” button to proceed.

In the left pane, find the songs on your computer. To upload them, double click on a file or drag and drop a song or a whole folder to the right pane titled “Songs to Upload.” You can add 100 total files and each may be up to 20MB in size. Files must be in the mp3 format.

Once you're ready to upload, click the “Next” button.

Add information about the songs and select whether other members will be able to download the files or put the song on their profile pages. To apply the same information to all of the songs in this batch, fill out the top portion under “Edit Information for All Songs.” Then click the button to “Apply this info to the photos below.” You can individually override this information by filling out song-by-song information below the batch edit.

Click Upload and wait for the files to upload.

When this is complete, you will be able to edit your playlist and re-order the songs in your music player. Click “Done” when you are finished. Your songs are now in your music player!

How can I control what information appears in the latest activity feed?

You can control what information gets posted in your latest activity feed. Just follow these steps. Any changes you make here will be reflected both on the feed for your profile page and the network feed on the main page.

Sign into the network. Click the “My Settings” link in the right column of the network.

Click "Privacy" in the left column of the page. At the bottom of the Privacy page, you will find options for what to include in the latest activity feed. Click “Save.”

Who can be my friend on Ning? How do I invite someone to be my friend on Ning?

You can ask anyone in the Clayton College network to be your friend. This will allow them to private message you and see any content you've marked as viewable by “Just My Friends.”

To invite someone to be your friend, you must first be signed in. Click the Members tab in that network and search for the person you want to add as your friend. Go to their profile by clicking on their name, and click the “Add as friend” link under the person's profile photo:

I accidentally blocked someone from sending me messages. How do I unblock them?

Click on the friend icon in the Ningbar, the thin colored strip across the top of any network powered by Ning: Click on the Blocked link in the left column. You will see a list of people you've blocked. Click the Unblock link under the profile photo of the person you would like to unblock.

What is the photo detail page?

In the photos section, clicking on the thumbnail of a picture will take you to the photo detail page, where you can tag or rate the photo, add it to your favorites, view more sizes of the photo and see when it was uploaded. If you are a member of the network and signed in, you can also add a comment about the photo on the comment wall.

How do I comment on a photo or video?

By default, anyone who is signed in to a network they are a member of can comment on photos or videos uploaded to that network. If you see the comment wall under a photo or video, you can comment on it. Just start typing in the box underneath the photo or video you want to comment on!

If are signed in and you don't see a comment wall under the photo or video, it means the contributor has turned comments off.

Who can see my photos?

You can decide who is able to view your photos. When you upload a photo, you can choose whether the photo is viewable to Anyone, Just My Friends, or Just Me. If you want to change the privacy setting on a specific photo, sign into the network and go to the photo detail page. Click the Edit Photo link underneath the photo:

Then select the new privacy setting you would like and click Save Changes.

By default, when you upload a photo, the privacy setting is set to viewable by Anyone. If you would like to change this default, click the My Settings link in the upper right corner of the page:

Then click Privacy in the left column. The first question on this page sets your default privacy level for photos. Any photo you upload will have this as the default setting which you can choose to override on a case-by-case basis as you upload photos. Changing this setting will not change the privacy setting on any previously uploaded photos.

How do I delete a photo?

To delete a photo, go to that photo's detail page. Below the photo you'll find a Delete Photo link. Simply click this link!

How do I create an album?

It's easy to create an album of your favorite photos! Sign into the network. Go to the Photos tab and click My Albums. Click Add Albums. Follow the instructions on the Make an Album page and click Save Album. You can re-order photos in your album by moving them around within the preview pane on the right.

Do I have a blog? Where is it?

Every member of a social network powered by Ning has his or her own page on that network, including a blog. To get to your blog, click on the My Page tab, then click on the My Blog link that appears just underneath:

You can add a blog post by clicking on the Add Blog Post link. Once you write the first entry in your blog, this link will remain on the top right of the page.

How do I manage my blog?

Start at your My Page tab on the network. Click the My Blog link. Here you'll see the link to Manage Blog. You can approve or reject comments, edit drafts or published posts, or delete blog posts.

I tried to sign in to a network I am a member of but I got a message saying I'm banned. What should I do?

If you think you might have been banned in error, contact the Network Creator. When you try to view the network you were banned from, type a message into the box that appears. Your message will be sent to the Network Creator and Administrators. They will be able to remove the ban if they choose to do so.
