as Chief
Academic Officer

Birmingham—Clayton College of Natural Health announces
the appointment of Teresa Nichols, Ph.D., chief academic officer
and administrative leader.
Nichols
brings to CCNH a wealth of knowledge from her background in
educational leadership, instruction, curriculum development,
academic operations, faculty development, and institutional
effectiveness. She has been a speaker at numerous local and
national conferences including the Association for Supervision
and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and American Association of
Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), and she has published
several journal articles on topics such as teacher education,
clinical experience effectiveness, and identifying at risk candidates
in teacher education programs. She earned her doctorate in instructional
leadership from the University of Alabama and her M.Ed. and
B.A. from the University of Montevallo.

a rich history of experience, outstanding credentials, and a
genuine love and enthusiasm for all aspects of education. Clayton
College’s

teach others to be healthy, and Teresa’s professional
commitment to educational outreach and academic development
dovetails perfectly with the college’s mission,” says
Kay Channell, President and CEO. “In this position, we
are confident that she will lead us in our ongoing endeavor
to continually raise the bar for setting the standard in natural
health, holistic nutrition, and traditional naturopathy education.”
She
previously served as a classroom teacher in the Tuscaloosa and
Jacksonville City school systems, an elementary school principal
at Anniston City and Shelby County schools, and as an associate
professor and director of clinical experiences in the College
of Education at Jacksonville State University. Together, Nichols
and her husband founded Nichols Education Services, Inc. with
the mission to help educational leaders recognize and meet the
needs of their organizations and students. Nichols was also
elected to serve on the City Council in her city of residence
in October 2008, and she is currently serving her first term.
